Sketches - December Doodles

So, Dr. Sketchys... good fun for about 6 months or so, I think. Not brilliant stuff, admittedly - dark pub, wine and lots of chatter... but fun and inspiring - I whole heartedly intend to take some of these sketches and make them into paintings.

October Digital Painting - contd.

Update...
So, I'm not giving up on this one... I'm taking it nice and slow.

This painting 'birthday girl' was finished over two nights and printed on canvas. Success - paint at 300 dpi and stick to proper scale. The printer matched the sides of the stretched area to an orange used in the back ground and it looks great!

Thumbnails to work on at a later stage... always nice to have a few of these at hand for when you're feeling like working on something from a quick sketch.

October - Digital Painting - contd.

Could be a bit dark - I can't tell - the callibration on my machines at work and home vary so much... perhaps that's why my colours look a bit 'off' sometimes.

September Acrylic Painting

So, to a new medium - acrylic. I've never been very successful with acrylic, but now is a good time to try retry OK, so a canvas of 1m x 50cm. A composition I feel comfortable with and a keeping to a similar technique to digital painting I feel comfortable with - lets see how this progresses over the weeks.

3 hours work... in acrylic

30 minute digital study - I'll be finishing this one too, but it's a great way of figuring out what I want to do next...

Friday 30/09 - DIGITAL Another hour or so...

Saturday 30/09 - ACRYLIC Another three hours or so... I kinda started getting the hang of it by the 3rd hour. It's a rewarding medium, but it takes a bit of getting used to.

September Digital Painting - contd.

Black and white study 2 - now the thing about this, is that it's my first 100% digital painting - no drawing and scanning, just straight into photoshop. Excellent! Still needs more tonal variation, but I did go from reference so it's now just a matter of perserverance.

September Digital Painting - contd.

This was an unfinished piece - it looks very dark, but actually, the technique really started to come together, so I've added as reference for myself... leading on to the next one.
